| Black
grape variety that is a relatively recent cross
between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc,
widely planted though out the world and one of
the most important International varieties. It
is generally used to produce full bodied, deeply
coloured red wines, often with black berry and
cassis flavours and typically a slight green or
herbal note. These wines are typically given
some oak treatment and usually contain
sufficient acidity and fair to heavy tannins,
making high quality versions well suited to
cellar aging. |
